Distressing Props

So, you’ve built a new prop or costume for your haunted attraction, but it’s not ready just yet. It needs to look like it belongs in your attraction. If it looks brand new, then it will break the reality that you’ve spent so much time building with your attractions scenery. Who want’s a chainsaw wielding character looking like they just walked out of the Home Depot?

So what techniques can we use to dress those props so look like they’ve been used for 10 years hacking up campers? Below we have a couple of tutorials that we’ve found from at the Prop Replica Forums (PRF.com). It’s a great resource for those interested in building movie prop and costume replicas. Now while some of these tutorials may show a X-Wing from Star Wars or a StormTrooper, the techniques that are presented are universal to distressing any prop or costume. So be sure to give them a look below. And if you know of any tutorials that should be included in this list, be sure to let us know by posting a comment below!
